As Halloween passes, the countdown is on for the approaching holidays. Whether your friends and family live close or far, you are bound to do some sort of traveling as the seasons come nearer. First things first, if you are planning on taking a plane ride, long car ride, or even a train, comfort is key. Although you want to be comfortable, you also want to be stylish. A pair of skinny jeans, a loose fitting shirt, and booties is a great combination. If you are traveling somewhere cold, this wardrobe pick allows for layering and a chance to bring a coat for the ride. Here is some inspiration for that anticipated plane ride.

Now that you have an idea of what to wear on the plane, the next thing to do is decide on what to pack in the bag. Depending on how long your trip is going to be will define on how much you need. Options area must and having staple items will allow you to pack less, but have a variety of outfit picks to choose from. Since you are already wearing skinny jeans, you only need one more pair to pack in the bag, that way you can alternate between the two during your trip. Wearing booties on the plane also gives you a stylish option, while leaving room in your bag for more clothing.

Here is a general guide of clothing options to add to your packing list:

1 Pair of Casual Shoes

Basic T-Shirts

                 3dcaeec6c2de1d14872b19447837022f    f3dca9ae1d9112578b878986145d818e

Make sure to pack a variety of basic T shirts in your bag. Having an array of shirts allows you to have more options when deciding what to wear.

Flannel Options

Flannels create a fun splash of color in your every day outfit. Wearing them provide warmth and style throughout your trip.

1 Little Black Dress

                  d68affb30cac0968ff377fed1e4313e5    8296385b263fb065ec1ea983ca3b5487

Bringing your LBD can offer an option that can be dressed up or dressed down providing more than one look for your trip

1 Skirt & 1 Pair of Tights

Having tights and a skirt allow you to  have an extra option for a casual or dressy look. The skirt can be worn with or without the tights, giving you an extra outfit in your traveling wardrobe.

An Extra Jacket

                  20eebf4eb79c57871accc3a39a9e3945       c30f8272f9c438f19d963922479e43ca

Bringing one jacket on the plane and one in your suitcase will help bring variety to your traveling wardrobe

Having basic options available in your suitcase allows for mixing and matching. a Good packing tip is to roll all of your garments, this allows for more room and is an anti-wrinkling trick. Packing less, but also being able to create multiple outfit options is important to remember when packing.

I hope this mini guide helps ease your traveling minds, making this traveling season the best one yet. Have fun and travel safe!

LBD Takes Halloween

The weekend is almost here, and that means it’s almost time for Halloween! While most people have been carefully planning their costumes for weeks now, some even since last year, there are the few of us (I’m guilty too, don’t worry) who possibly have waited until the very last minute. We’ll end up spending all Thursday night searching through every piece of clothing of we own, and frantically pinning ideas to our Pinterest board looking for “the perfect” costume (which we know we won’t have time to put together anyways).

Have no fear… That’s why I’m here!

Here are 7 quick, last minute Halloween costumes that are easy to put together with one simple ingredient: your trusty Little Black Dress!

Just add some items from your closet to your LBD, make a quick trip to the dollar store, and BOOM – you have a Halloween costume!

Shall we begin?

#1 Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Photo Sourcehttp://www.pinterest.com/pin/458452437040131469/

Photo Sourcehttp://funnycoolhalloween.blogspot.com/2013/10/more-great-halloween-fun-costumes-2013.html

You will need: Your LBD, black pumps (make sure they’re comfortable!), a pearl necklace and matching earrings, a pair of long black gloves, a tiara, a cigarette holder (this might be hard to find last minute, but I’m sure a black pen would suffice) and of course those infamous black sunglasses to complete the ensemble.

#2 Cruella De Vil

Photo Sourcehttp://www.collegefashion.net/inspiration/13-little-black-dress-halloween-costume-ideas/

You will need: a LBD, long gloves, white hair spray or baby powder, bright red lipstick, a faux fur coat, and red (or black) heels. If your using the powder, put it on half of your hair, then hairspray away. Tada!

For Fun: Bring your dog along for the fun, or find a neighbor that would so kindly lend you their pup for the night. That is, if they can trust a villain for a night…….

#3 Minnie Mouse

Photo Sourcehttp://www.collegefashion.net/inspiration/13-little-black-dress-halloween-costume-ideas/

Photo Sourcehttp://www.pinterest.com/pin/61150507415922295/

You will need: Your little black dress, mouse ears (if your a big time Disney fan you probably already own these, but if you can’t get a pair from the Disney Store, you can always add a bow to any mouse ears), red lipstick, red or black heels, and red and white details as you choose. Don’t forget the polka dots!

For Fun: Get your boyfriend to dress as Mickey, or your bestie to dress as Daisy Duck (best friends forever right?)

#4 Vampire

Photo Sourcehttp://www.collegefashion.net/inspiration/13-little-black-dress-halloween-costume-ideas/

You will need: Fangs (you can find these at any halloween store close by), dark red lipstick, a black jacket (I say go with the leather) and black heels. Use the badass outfits of more modern day vampires like Katherine Pierce from The Vampire Diaries for inspiration (favorite. show. ever.).

For Fun: Use a cup full of fruit punch as a prop, and add a little red dye to the side of your mouth (anyone thirsty?)

#5 Flapper

Photo Sourcehttp://www.collegefashion.net/inspiration/13-little-black-dress-halloween-costume-ideas/

You will need: A little black dress, red lipstick, a whole lotta blush, a long pearl or gold chain necklace, a headband, dark eyeshadow (keep it smokey), black or gold heels (I say gold), and add a clutch or cigarette holder for details!

And if you’re in the mood for some laughs… (aren’t we always?)

#6 Black Mail

You will need: Your little black dress, black heels, and a large postage stamp (a large photocopied one or even a few real stamps) on your bod!

#7 Salt and Pepper (grab your bf, or a friend for this one!)

You will need: Your LBD with the letter “P” cut out of white paper or felt.

For Friend: An all white dress with the letter “S” cut out of black paper or felt.

For Fun: Make shaker tops out of aluminum foil or disposable cake pans by poking a few holes in the top! Shake away!

You’ve got 5 days and no excuses now… get your little black dress on and put it to good use!

Stay safe ladies and Happy Halloween!

Socks are one of my favorite accessories. Not only do they keep you cozy on cold nights, they are also the perfect addition for an artsy aesthetic. These “misted yellow” & “sangria”  red socks are not only adorable, but they show off your creative and fashionable side. Mix up those fall & winter colors with some Stance Socks, they are within budget  and will add the perfect touch to your creative style. Work it girl.

When I say fashion is not only limited to clothing, I mean your whole “look” is your fashion, including the way you do your makeup. According to Harpers Bazaar, This “cobalt blue” eyeliner and sangria” smokey eye shadow are 2014 Fall/Winter color trend approved. Dior provides great tutorials on how to achieve the smoky eye, while Ulta carries a wide variety of liquid liner to master the perfect cat eye, both makeup trends for Fall/winter 2014.

There you have it! A simple guide on how to incorporate affordable pieces into your “not so Fall/Winter ready closet.” If you are ready for the upcoming season, it’s always fun to add more items to your wardrobe. Splurge a little and be the best-dressed and most knowledgeable fashionista I know you are! Until next time.

What do you get when you take fashion and add a little bit of exercise? You nailed it. Fashercise! Fitness and fashion are combining forces like no other. With all the ‘sporty chic’ hoodies, high tech sportswear, and every color gym shoe imagineable, stores selling sportswear have done nothing but force us (or at least me) to dress as cute as possible before setting foot on that stairmaster.

But let’s be honest… working out isn’t as fun if you don’t look cute (you know it’s true, just admit it).

Sweats & an oversized tee? That’s great! Great for that cozy night in, when you have nothing better to do than sit on the couch and watch Netflix with your cats (Don’t judge). If I’m literally working my butt off in the gym then it should at least look good.

People forget excercising doesn’t mean you can’t look fabulous while doing it. What’s frustrating though for most of us is that there really are so many grotesque workout clothes out there or we just don’t know what to wear.

They key? Finding outfits that are both functional AND have that special, “Becky got back” look.

So today I’m sharing with you what I wear to the gym on a regular basis…

1. Nike (one of my favorite brands for activewear), keeps everything tight and right. Doesn’t get much better than that!

photo 2

2 These Nike Pro shorts are my (and my butt’s) best friend.

3. Shoes are my favorite part.. Duh.

photo 1

I feel great in all of these items and not frumpy…..orrrr like I just got out of bed and went to the gym in my pjs.

Honestly, feeling cute during a workout makes it sooo much better. And anything that makes my butt looks tighter is a total plus.

Take my advice and treat yourself to a new workout outfit. When you dress cute to workout and actually like how you look, it’ll make the whole experience ten times better!

What to do AFTER that workout in your totally cute, bootylicious gym outfit?

I’ll tell you…

Plan a relaxing and enjoyable activity to do afterward.  Watch one of your favorite tv shows (Scandal? The New Girl? Real Housewives of New Jersey?), read a magazine outside on the patio, or hit up the sauna. It will make you want to go out and finish your workout so you can actually get that reward! After all the hard work you put yourself through every week, you can’t go wrong with a new outfit AND rewarding yourself after showing it off in the gym. Afterall… YOU DESERVE IT! So get to shopping ladies and don’t forget it’s all about fashercise!

I’ll see you at the gym 😉

Girls Night In

Showing off your stylish look is just as important when staying in as it is when going out. The days are getting shorter and as daylight savings approaches hanging out with my bff’s, while consuming all things pumpkin, is definitely at the top of the “to do” list. The tree’s will soon be turning shades of orange and I know I won’t be the only one at Starbucks ordering a pumpkin spice latte. All this fall tradition inspired me to look up some good ole’ home remedies to try out on a “girl’s night in.” Here is your one stop guide to having a successful night in with your besties.

I’m loving printed detailed leggings this season! Not only are leggings comfortable, but they are a super cute piece when showing off your creative side. Whether you choose a solid pair or leggings with a colorful pattern your friends will definitely be asking where to get a pair.

16cbd628007423140583cadb7abe7819 030f746656b6a8234458217f10070206          b7bf844c29e992d4cddde7b53926ec688a202492b0bba41ddbfeb1451347be5b

Deciding on what to wear on top is important and keeping it simple is key when wearing detailed bottoms. A solid knit sweater or pullover sweatshirt makes for the perfect combination with your lovely leggings.

I love keeping it casual, but a little spice will be the perfect kick to this “girls night in” and all things pumpkin should do the trick. Here is a fun a DIY pumpkin face-mask to introduce to all of your friends. Not only does it smell delicious, it is also full of beneficial enzymes and vitamins E & T which are important for healthy glowing skin.

1/3 cup of ground almonds

2 cup of pureed pumpkins (freshly cooked or canned)

4 tablespoons of plain yogurt

4 tablespoons of honey

1/4 teaspoon of olive oil

Mix all ingredients and apply to your face. Let the mask sit for 5-10 minutes. Once the time is up rinse your mask off with luke warm water Don’t put that pumpkin away just yet! While you wait for your face masks to dry, whip up a few pumpkin milkshakes because, why not?

5 or 6 scoops of vanilla ice cream

3/4 cup canned pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup caramel sauce

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp nutmeg

Whipped cream, if desired.

Throw it all in a blender then top with whipped cream & voila, you have the perfect treat to enjoy  whether it’s watching a movie, playing card games, or just chatting the night away. Not only will everyone be asking where you got your cute leggings and knit tops, but they will probably be  asking when the next “girls night in” is. I hope all this talk of pumpkin and spice has gotten you in the spirit of fall and ready to shop. Have fun!

“Fall” in love

As much as we all enjoy our warm weather, sunkissed skin, and longer nights, the time of year has come for us to say farewell to summer and helloooo to fall! Nothing beats crisp air and hot cocoa, however it’s the clothes we count down the days for. From sweaters and hoodies, to boots and scarves, fashion has its own way of inspiring every girl’s closet. 8 more days until it’s officially Autumn, so why not lock down five fall looks that are not only inspiring, but totally doable, no matter the size of your wallet. Time to strut your stuff ladies!

Look #1: A little bit of boot(ie)

If you are going to buy only one thing this fall, make your feet happy and invest in my personal favorite, a knockout pair of booties. I own about five pairs (as of now) and practically live in them every fall. There are so many different styles out there to really switch your outfits up: wedge, heel, flat, laced…. the list goes on. I always look for that added hardware for flare whether it’s zippers, buckles, chains, or even studs. Stand out in a crowd by pairing them with skinny jeans or leggings, a cute tank, and a jacket or sweater. Booties are so popular for fall, you need to own a pair (if you don’t already!). Spread your wings and show off that bootie!

Look #2: Make a statement

A standout piece of jewelry always makes an outfit a little more special, whether your dressing it up or keeping it casual. Try adding to your collection this fall with a statement necklace or even layering several necklaces of different lengths. Go bold or go home!7877f78314c2ee3604624c1fa79ebf6e6e437acdb81489b15dbea1325ade4310 70bb57ca4774decf847a8a2f3f65209f

Look #3: LBD with some flare

Ohhhh our trusty little black dress, the one item in our closet that NEVER fails us. I personally have one too many LBD’s, but the best part about them is that I can add to it with whatever I want! Try spicing things up a tad this fall by adding some flare to your trusty friend with a long sleeved cardigan, patterened oversized scarf (that’s both cute but functional), and a bold colored pair of “look at me” pumps. Tada! And that is why we love you LBD…

Look #4: No white after labor day? (We’ve got other plans)

I never follow the “no white after Labor Rule” rule (oops), but adding white pants to your end of summer oufits is the perfect item to showcase before people scorn you for doing so. Wearing a white pair of pants, with a neutral colored tank, and a basic clutch or crossbody is going to be the perfect ensemble to sport while transitioning to darker fall looks. Dont be afraid… wear some white!

Look #5: Belt it

Who said belts are just for jeans?! Add some structure to your outfits by shrinking that waistline with a belt. Try pairing a small or oversized belt with a boxy military jacket or even a T-shirt dress. And dont be shy! Stick with brown and black or go with a fun color to add that cherry on top of your outfit.

There you have it my friends! Hope these looks inspire you to expand your wardrobe and make this fall your very own catwalk. I challenge you to pick one and start tomorrow! It’s a brand new week, make it a good one.
